Helping Families of Elgin County McGuinty Government Supports Programs To Promote Healing

October 1. 2010 - Elgin County First Nation, Metis and Inuit victims of crime are benefiting from new services that are helping them with the healing process. With support from the Aboriginal Victims Support Grant Program, Mnaasged Child and Family Services have developed a new project that promotes healthy traditional parenting. The London District Chiefs Council as part of their Social Services Initiative set into motion a series of events that led to Mnaasged Child & Family Services. After a successful proposal to INAC to undergo research, a Steering Committee was struck with delegates from the First Nations and regional CAS’s to guide the project. Karen Hill & Associates was selected and completed a Research Report by May 2003. The research confirmed that 206 children fin the span of 4 years. Secondly, the amendments to the CFSA had a negative impact on our communities. The results of the research study provided the foundation for the next steps.
